SN Networks

Helping to build and support a wide variety of networks has been vital to Second Nature’s strategy for building the higher education EFS movement, and it has formed one of our strongest and most enduring accomplishments.

Our approach is to create and enhance self-guided networks, particularly those with a regional focus given that the concerns of specific groups of educators are often common to a region. We bring together like-minded individuals from groups of institutions and help them learn from each other’s successes and build on each other's work to advance EFS programs in all institutions. We help provide or enhance the framework for these networks while encouraging their independent growth and ultimate establishment as self-governing with permanent entities.

SN efforts over the past 12 years have expanded, enhanced, and helped build vital and enduring networks of institutions collaborating on sustainability initiatives including:

• Historically Black Colleges and Minority Institutions Environmental Technology Consortium - 17 institutions



• Associated Colleges of the South Environmental Initiative - 16 institutions



• New Jersey Higher Education Partnership for Sustainability - 33 Institutions



• United Negro College Fund/Building Environmental Stewardship -10 institutions



• EFS West Network - 80 institutions
