Barbara Koneval, MBA, Program Associate, Training & Education

Barbara Koneval is Second Nature’s Program Associate, Education & Outreach for the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment.
Barbara brings eight years of experience working with sustainability organizations. Prior to joining Second Nature, she worked as an independent consultant, working on climate research and the development of a sustainability rating system for Fortune 500 companies. Barbara spent four years at the Oregon Natural Step Network, coordinating events for a network of over 300 businesses, higher education institutions, government agencies, and non-profit organizations interested in sustainability. The focus of the Network was based on The Natural Step Framework, a science-based approach to strategic sustainability planning. In addition to her experience with The Natural Step, Barbara worked at the Northwest Earth Institute, a non-profit organization focused on motivating individuals to take action in their daily lives. She currently acts as a curriculum development advisor for NWEI’s newest course on sustainable business.
Barbara completed her MBA in Sustainable Business from the Bainbridge Graduate Institute, one of the first graduate programs in the country to offer an MBA focused on sustainability. She holds a BA in Communication and Human Ecology from Rutgers University. In addition, she is licensed as a SCORE assessor; an assessment tool to help an organization evaluate the extent to which sustainability is integrated into operations.
