Jenifer Forbes

Jenifer is currently in her fourth year at Northeastern University where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Science with a concentration in Marine Biology. Jen comes to Second Nature from Baltimore, Maryland. She gained an early respect for the natural world from constant involvement in hikes, bike trips, and sporting events. Her environmental concern grew in high school because the Chesapeake Bay Watershed she rowed on was extremely polluted. In college she became impassioned with a wider range of sustainability issues after she took an Environmental Science course. In addition to being a student full time, she is a member of Northeastern University’s Varsity Crew Team. Jenifer has worked with the College of Civil and Environmental Engineers at Northeastern University on a study concerning algae proliferation in the Charles River. She is currently working with the Department of Biology at Northeastern University on a study concerning the biomagnification of carcinogens in recreationally caught stripped bass and blue fish living in the New Bedford Harbor Superfund Site. In her final year at Northeastern Jenifer will enroll in the Three Seas Program where she will have the opportunity to study from three maritime locations in the United States and Central America.
