Jessica Dervin-Ackerman
Born in Berkeley, California, Jess Dervin-Ackerman have always had an interest in social and environmental justice. So, naturally she is studying Environmental Geology at Northeastern. For the last 2.5 years she has been actively involved in Northeastern University's energy club, Husky Energy Action Team (HEAT). Serving as Co-Executive Director she has been working with both students and administration to further Northeastern's sustainability efforts and increase campus awareness. Jess has been the student representative on the Sustainability Committee, which works to implement the recommended steps set forward by the ACUPCC. Though HEAT takes up most of her time outside of school, she is also involved in Northeastern's Outdoors club and the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences student club, NU Terra Society. After completing her undergraduate study in Dec of 2009, she plans to continue working with members of the higher education community in working towards a sustainable future. She is also researching Masters programs in Sustainability and Energy Solutions. Suggestions, anyone?
